SCS steps on the gasSiemen's Communications Software has become the fourth largest and the fastest-growing development centre of the DM 12 billion Siemen's public communication networks group. The company, engaged in software exports, has over 400 staffers and in some time is expected to have more employees than the 800-worker US unit. It's 1997-98 budget ran up to DM 16 million.
SCS has developed the software for the 61 Siemens EWSD telecommunication management networks in India. Around the globe, 94 countries are using the product. Other software developed by SCS include:
Siemens sources say Indian software professionals have been quick to pick up the basics and work harder than their German counterparts and are faster at fixing flaws that pop in during development. Though the SCS developers were only three-fourth as productive as those in Germany but, going by cost alone, was worth four times as much. The only complaint was about the rate of employee turnover.
