Global Telecom strikes pact with Microsoft

Global Telecom Services Limited, an electronic commerce service provider, has announced a broad technology alliance with Microsoft for the use of Windows NT, Microsoft Commercial Internet System and Microsoft Consultancy Services.

Microsoft NT based systems to run Internet based services.

The Microsoft Commercial Internet System, among other things, comprises Internet mail server, Internet news server, Microsoft membership system and Microsoft content replication system.

Kishore V Kale, director, technical, GTSL explains that "Microsoft's tradition of excellence and it's commitment to Internet technologies as well as to the Indian market were the key factors why Global Telecom chose Microsoft as a Strategic Partner."

GTSL will begin to deploy Microsoft commercial Internet system as the foundation for its many news services including web hosting and providing Internet connectivity to businesses and customers. The company is focusing on developing rich local content and serving Web and transaction based solutions for large industries manufacturing and retail organisations, financial institutions, corporations and government agencies.

GTSL claimed that this would help to provide complete and innovative solutions to its customers and help businesses to be prepared for the challenges of operating e-commerce.

"Under the terms of the partnership Microsoft will provide GTSL with a core set of technologies and consulting services that will enable GTSL to deliver Internet based online services and other broadband multimedia and electronic commerce services. Using the new technologies will allow GTSL to gain a tremendous business and technical advantage and enable us to provide the best service for our customers," Kale elaborates.

Microsoft is enthusiastic about the alliance with GTSL. Meena Ganesh, director, application developers, Internet customer unit, Microsoft declared that "GTSL is already a leader in electronic commerce services and this alliance with Microsoft will help extend their service capabilities to deliver superior Internet based services in the Indian market place."

"GTSL now joins a growing worldwide list of major network operators who have chosen Windows NT and MCIS. With the enormous growth potential of the Indian market for Internet services, the alliance allows both companies to leverage their strengths to maximise benefit to the end customer," she elaborated.

Global Telecom Services aims to become the dominant national ISP in India by providing business to business and business to consumer solutions on Internet based technologies.
