Launching the new product range, Wipro Acer CEO Suresh Vaswani said, "The superior performance of SuperGENIUS 7000, based on Intel's new generation Celeron processors, will influence customers to move from the existing Pentium MMX computers. Like other products in the SuperGENIUS family, the new model will deliver the Wipro quality promise with respect to genuine components, responsive support, suitability to Indian conditions and great value for money." Atul Vijaykar, director, South Asia, Intel, said that the Intel Celeron processor has effectively replaced the Pentium processor with MMX as the processor of choice for entry level systems. "It meets the core needs and affordability requirement common to new homes and business users," he said. The Wipro SuperGENIUS PC has obtained PC 97 certification from Microsoft, which ensures compatibility and optimum performance on the Windows platform. The Wipro SuperGENIUS range was launched in April 1998 with both Pentium MMX and Pentium II based products. Approximately 6000 SuperGENIUS PCs have been sold to date. SuperGENIUS 7000 is based on the Intel 440EX chipset, which gives latest technological features such as SDRAM, Ultra DMA hard disk and the Accelerated Graphics Port.
