C-DAC, Oracle to partner for business computing

The memorandum of understanding in this regard was signed by C-DAC Executive Director Dr R K Arora and Oracle (India) Network Infrastructure Computing Director Deepankar Sanyal.

According to the MoU, a Centre of Excellence for Data Warehousing and Decision Support System Solutions will be set up at C-DAC in Pune, Dr Arora and Sanyal informed reporters.

Oracle is putting in over Rs 10 million worth of software while the C-DAC will chip in with its high-class servers, providing the necessary hardware platform, Sanyal said.

This combination is expected to provide state-of-the-art solutions on business computing applications using advanced computing technologies like data warehousing and multilingual information technologies.

The two have not conducted any sort of survey to assess the income generation through the provision of business computing solutions to end-users.

Elaborating on the mutual benefits, Sanyal said that Oracle would offer products, which have not yet been released, to C-DAC, which in turn would check their efficiency and work towards enhancements.

Apart from providing the customers with data warehouse solutions, the two propose to launch multilingual network computers around September this year.

This would incorporate C-DAC's technology in network computers developed by Oracle's network designing centre.
