Syngal is Reliance Telecom chairmanB K Syngal, former chairman and managing director of the Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited has been appointed chairman of Reliance Telecom, a Reliance Group company.Syngal, who is 58 years old, was at the helm of VSNL through a period, which saw it rise to become one of the 10 largest Indian corporations.
Welcoming Syngal, Reliance Managing Director Anil Ambani said that Syngal's "wide experience and exceptional track record in the field of telecommunications would aid Reliance Telecom to be a leader in its field". Reliance Telecom has licences in seven circles in 13 states which covers a third of India's land mass wit a population base of over 330 million. Reliance Mobile is available in over 23 different cities in seven states. It is currently implementing the Gujarat basic services project. UNI |
