Sky Cable launches Net access service in Orissa

Email this story to a friend. Ortel Communications Limited has launched Internet services in Orissa.

Named Sky Cable, the ISP has launched its dial-up Internet service at rates ranging from Rs 24 per hour for a 100-hour account to Rs 15 per hour for users of accounts of 500 hours or more.

Ortel Director Jagi panda told reporters in Bhubaneshwar that the company is also at an advanced stage of field trials for commissioning high-speed access to the internet via cable modems and plans to launch such services soon.

Ortel had already completed field trials from leading international vendors like Com-21 (distributed by Philips), Phayecom, Bay Networks and others, Panda said.

Cable modem services, when introduced, would cater to corporate houses, small offices, home offices as well as professional and high net worth individuals, he said.

Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang inaugurated the service. deputy chief of the company S K Senapati promised Sky Cable Internet Service would provide interested schools with Internet access on "very favourable terms".
