NIIT offers free computer course to teachersA Staff WriterIndia's leading IT training institution, NIIT, has offered a free computer literacy program, SWIFT Start, to school teachers at all NIIT Centres around the country on the occasion of Teachers' Day on September 5, tomorrow.
NIIT will be offering the eight-hour SWIFT Start Program that will expose teachers to the fundamentals of computers like, how to word-process a document, how to create a spreadsheet, how to surf on the Internet and use an email. Teachers can enrol for this program at any nearest NIIT education centre between September 6 and 11. "We hope to train about 10,000 teachers in this process," Rajendran said. NIIT's SWIFT Start computer programmes are designed to demystify computers for people who could gain substantially by using computers in their daily lives. Through SWIFT Start programs thousands of executives, housewives, government employees, working and retired professionals have whetted their appetite for computer literacy by starting out at as little as Rs 599 for eight hours of learning at NIIT. SWIFT Start programme can be extended to 36 hours SWIFT India programme, after which the learners are able to work on a personal computer and use the Windows utilities to create simple documents and spreadsheets with simple functions and graphs. In addition, they are able to appreciate desktop applications and the Internet Explorer to browse the Net. |
