Ucal unit to sell VoiceGate systemsCarburettors Limited of the Ucal group, in an arrangement with VoiceGate Technologies of Canada and its Indian representatives, Larsen & Toubro, has launched the sale of a state-of-the-art telecommunications system in Madras.Initially, voice mail and interactive voice response will be marketed in Tamil Nadu and made available in Karnataka within a month, according to V G Subrahmanyam, chief executive officer, Carburettors. The product, custom-developed by VoiceGate to suit Indian conditions, is capable of virtually seamless integration with any EPABX system. It ranges from 2 to 24 ports and the initial investment cost for a mid-range product could be between Rs 200,000-300,000, depending on the requirements of the client. The product features voice-mail boxes, auto-attendant facility, bulletin board and an optional fax-on-demand card attachment, whereby a customer can receive the necessary product information through fax machines. L&T sources say Carburettors was chosen to market the product in the southern region because of its long involvement in the field of instrumentation. L&T has been successfully marketing office automation systems in Delhi, Bombay and Pune for several years. VoiceGate primarily concentrates on designing, manufacturing and custom developing telecom systems and accessories. This is the first time its products are being made available to the Indian market. |
