Overhaul at TVSE

TVS Electronics has announced the restructuring of its marketing and service operations. This has been undertaken to focus on the company's core competency in indigenous design and manufacturing. The marketing and service functions have been spun off as separate companies structured along product lines.

The restructuring has resulted in two group companies - Sundram Infosel Limited (Infosel) and landmark Infocom Limited (Indmark) - marketing the TVSE product range, according to a company press release.

Infosel will offer a range of complete printing solutions by marketing dot matrix printers, inkjet and laser printers. Inkjet and laser printers will be supported by Lexmark technology. In addition to Indian operations, Infosel will also look at opportunities in South Asian markets. John Aravamuthan will be President of Sundram Infosel Limited.

According to the release Indmark will focus on leveraging the volume base and technology for uninterrupted power supply systems to offer the widest range of UPS systems in the country. Indmark will also develop the keyboard business through expansion of the product range to consolidate the group's dominance and develop it as a core business in the medium term.

Marketing storage devices from Iomega will also form a significant part of Indmark's business plans. V Anantaraman will be President of Indmark Infocom Limited.

The release quoted Gopal Srinivasan, director, TVSE, as saying that the rationale for this exercise is to create focus around the company's core businesses in printing and power supplies and also to leverage the TVSE brand. The restructuring will enable each company to optimally leverage the existing infrastructure, while retaining the flexibility to develop systems and structures best suited to individual business.
