CBI raids DD's Central
Production Centre
The Central Bureau of Investigation Friday raided the premises of the Central Production Centre (CPC) of Doordarshan, as a follow-up of raids on premises of top officials of Doordarshan for alleged bungling of television rights of tennis and cricket matches.
Sleuths of the anti-corruption unit of the Delhi branch raided the CPC on Friday and seized documents pertaining to the telecast of some sports programmes, CBI sources said.
All sport programmes are only beamed from the CPC.
However, it was not clear whether the CBI has registered a case against any more officials. The CBI raided nearly 25 premises on November 13 for alleged bungling in the grant of telecast
rights.
The CBI has registered five criminal cases against K S Sarma, then director general of Doordarshan, former deputy director general (sports) K Unnikrishnan, DDG (commercial and sales) Rakesh Bhadur, DDG (finance) P K Seth, Director (finance) Sanjeev Dutta and Controller (sales) Anurag Mishra.
It also registered cases against private television firms United Television Network, Stracon
and WorldTel.
