Prabhakar gets judicial custody
Former India Test cricketer Manoj
Prabhakar, arrested in connection with a cheating case and
admitted to a private clinic following suspected brain stroke,
was on Tuesday remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a court in Haldwani.
Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar visited Prabhakar at the
hospital and ordered that a medical report of the former
cricketer be sent to the court on a daily basis,
Superintendent of Police, Nainital Jeevan Chand Pandey said over phone.
Prabhakar was arrested by the Uttaranchal police from his
south Delhi office on Monday following a non-bailable arrest
warrant issued by the Haldwani Judicial Magistrate in
connection with a chit fund company APACE Investment Ltd case
on May 11.
Police have alleged that Prabhakar, as director of the
company, defrauded and cheated people while accepting
deposits from them.
