Prabhakar gets judicial custody

Former India Test cricketer Manoj Prabhakar, arrested in connection with a cheating case and admitted to a private clinic following suspected brain stroke, was on Tuesday remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a court in Haldwani.

Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar visited Prabhakar at the hospital and ordered that a medical report of the former cricketer be sent to the court on a daily basis, Superintendent of Police, Nainital Jeevan Chand Pandey said over phone.

Prabhakar was arrested by the Uttaranchal police from his south Delhi office on Monday following a non-bailable arrest warrant issued by the Haldwani Judicial Magistrate in connection with a chit fund company APACE Investment Ltd case on May 11.

Police have alleged that Prabhakar, as director of the company, defrauded and cheated people while accepting deposits from them.
