ICC denies seeking compensation from BCCI

In a twist to the ongoing sponsorship controversy, the International Cricket Council on Friday rejected the Board of Control for Cricket in India statement that it has sought compensation from the board and made it clear that it had sought indemnities from all countries against damages it may suffer.

Rejecting BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya's statement in Kolkata on Thursday night, ICC chief executive Malcolm speed said such a blanket indemnity has been sought from all countries and not just India.

This request was considered by the countries and it was agreed that such an undertaking could not be given, he said.

"Any suggestion for compensation is purely hypothetical. Should a claim emerge in future, it would be a matter for that time to determine who, if anyone, was at fault and the size, if any, of any compensation payout," he said.

"There is no claim for compensation from the ICC or any other body against any country," Speed added.
