The Board of Control for Cricket in India has extended coach John Wright's contract by  two months to make sure his services are available to the Indian team in case the tri-series in Bangladesh is held on schedule next month.

Top board sources said the decision to extend Wright's contract was taken on an adhoc basis and it would be formalised at the next working committee meeting.

Speaking over the phone from his home in Christchurch, Wright also said BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya had asked him to continue for two more months when he called him on Sunday.

"I am quite happy with this arrangement and look forward to a successful campaign in Dhaka," Wright said.

India along with South Africa and Bangaladesh are expected to participate in the tri-series in Dhaka from April
11, but there have been some doubts over the tournament following South Africa's decision to pull out of the Sharjah tournament.

Wright has had quite a successful stint with the Indian team since he joined in November, 2000 and he is on record saying that he was looking forward to a longer stint with the Indian team.
