Indian eves made a spectacular start to their World Cup campaign, spanking arch-rivals Pakistan by 10 wickets in the lung-opener of the quadrennial extravaganza in Bowral on Saturday.
Electing to bowl, India shot out the Pakistani team for a paltry 57 in 29 overs and then its openers finished the Group B game exactly in 10 overs at the Bradman Oval ground.
Anjum Chopra (17) and stumper Anagha Deshpande (26) guided India home without any fuss as they sealed the win with 40 overs to spare.
Pakistani bowling was as awful as their batting as they gave away 15 extras with 12 wide deliveries.
For Pakistan only Sana Mir (17) and opener Nain Abidi (10) put up some resistance as all other bats-women failed to touch the double-digit mark.
Three of their players could not even open their accounts and had it not been for the 10 extras on the scoreboard, they would not have crossed even the 50-run mark.
Rumeli Dhar wreaked havoc as she accounted for three Pakistani players with an incredible figures of 8-5-7-3. Anju Sharma and Priyanka Roy took two wickets apiece.
