Repoll in Bihar, MP and AP begins peacefullyIn Bihar repolling in 201 polling booths covering 12 Lok Sabha constituencies began this morning under strict security. Official sources in Patna said the voting began in a low key and had been peaceful so far. There were not many voters outside the polling booths in the early hours. Repolling was ordered by the Election Commission following reports of complaints of booth capturing and rigging among other irregularities during the first phase of elections in 19 constituencies of the state on September 18. In Madhya Pradesh, repolling, which started at 0700 hours in seven polling booths in four Lok Sabha constituencies was progressing peacefully. The Election Commission had ordered re-poll in three polling booths of Satna Lok Sabha constituency, two of Shahdol (ST) and one polling station each of Khajuraho and Damoh as the election process in these booths were vitiated during the second phase of polling in the state on September 18. Besides, repolling will be held tomorrow in 30 polling stations of Mangawan assembly segment, 12 in Rewa, Sirmor 10, Mauganj four, Gurh two and one of Theonthar assembly segments of Rewa Lok Sabha constituency. State assembly speaker Sriniwas Tiwari's son Sunderlal Tiwari (Congress), Chandra Mani Tripathi (BJP) and Ramlakhan Patel (BSP) are locked in a tough multi-corner contest for the Rewa seat. In Andhra Pradesh repolling in 84 polling stations in 27 assembly segments in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies commenced on a peaceful note this morning, with about 25 per cent of the voters casting their ballots in the first four hours. The repoll was ordered following alleged malpractices and incidents such as destruction of ballots and ballot boxes and pouring of water into ballot boxes during the third phase of polling on September 18. Originally, repoll was ordered in 88 polling stations. However, the Karimnagar district collector and election officer postponed the repoll in Kanukunuru, Nallaguntameenajapeta, Gandhakamaram and Pegadapalli polling stations in Manthani assembly segment after four policemen, including a reserved sub inspector were killed in a landmine blast set off by the banned People's War Group yesterday. The fresh dates for the repoll in these four polling stations would be announced later. UNI
