Enter Lokhandwala complex, a posh locality in suburban Bombay. Vans line up the entire length of the street. Here's where the action lies. We are on the sets of Na Tum Jaano Na Hum. The film stars hot property Hrithik Roshan. Incidentally the title of the film is inspired from the hit song Na tum jaano na hum from Hrithik's debut film Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai. And cast with the dashing Roshan are newcomer Esha Deol and Saif Ali Khan. Debutante director Arjun Sablok checks the frame, engrossed in deep discussion with the camera technician and the lighting crew. Saif Ali Khan steps out from his van and gears up for the shot. All he has to do is look at the camera. A yellow cello tape marks the place he must look at. That mark is supposed to be Esha Deol. Saif must look at Esha in mock surprise. Arjun instructs him to change his expressions. He wants Saif's annoyance to be captured by the camera. For the close-ups, the reflectors are so close to Saif's face that one can hardly look at him. Once those shots are canned, Saif checks the monitor. He's happy with the way things have turned out. Saif reveals that he is the third person in the love triangle. "I was thrilled to work with a new director once again, especially after Love Ke Liye Kucch Bhi Karega, Dil Chahta Hai and Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein with new directors. They are so enthusiastic about their first films; you feel guilty if you aren't as enthused." Saif admits that he liked his character in the film so much that he convinced the makers to convert his guest appearance to a full-fledged role. Time for Hrithik Roshan to report. He is busy chatting on his cell phone. But the conversation ends when he meets the director. Arjun explains the next shot to him. Hrithik and Saif take their positions. These have been marked by chalk lines drawn on the floor. Hrithik must notice Saif observing Esha. He comes over and places a hand on Saif's shoulder. The shot is rehearsed but Arjun wants the close-ups later. It is all canned without a hitch. But Saif is not very satisfied with his performance. So, it's back to square one. Soon, they are back to checking the shot in the monitor. This time it meets everyone's approval. We steal a few minutes with Hrithik during the break. He tells us that the film is an interesting tale of people in love. "Esha and Saif are great costars. They're great to be around; they're so full of life. Life on these sets is enjoyable." Hrithik feels the roles he's experimented with after KNPH have helped him gain a deeper insight into the art and the craft of acting. "I am highly thankful to all those people, who have loved me so much and appreciated my work," he smiles. Na Tum... is expected to release early next year and the trio are keeping their fingers crossed. India News Features Service
