US apparel major Tommy Hilfiger Corporation today announced in Bombay that it has entered into an exclusive licence agreement with GVM International Limited, a division of the Murjani group, to market and distribute TH products in India beginning spring 2000.

The Tommy Hilfiger brand tasted success in Europe, Asia and South America, and now it is seeking to establish a strong presence in India through the partnership with the Murjani group.

With the entrance of many new fashion and garment brands in India, the company feels the current environment is conducive to the launch of Tommy Hilfiger, commented Joel Horowitz, chief executive officer of THC.

THC, through its subsidiaries, designs, sources and markets men's and women's sportswear, jeanswear and childrenswear under the Tommy Hilfiger trademarks.

Through a range of strategic licensing agreements, the company is expanding its product lines to offer a broader array of apparel, accessories, footwear, fragrance and home furnishings.

The company's products can be found in leading department and specialty stores throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong and other countries in the Far East.
