In 1977 Jagannath Mishra moved here from Madhubani, but was routed by the Bharatiya Lok Dal's Dhanik L Mandal, his luck faring no better in 1980 as well. The Congress got back in 1984, but its candidate was not Mishra. Since 1989, Devendra Prasad Yadav of the Janata Dal has won all the three elections; the Congress has held on to second place.
