Naveen Patnaik demands CBI probe against Orissa CMBiju Janata Dal president and Union Steel and Mines Minister Naveen Patnaik has met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of funds in Orissa's agricultural department under the Congress regime. He submitted a memorandum to the prime minister highlighting what he called gross financial irregularities in Orissa under Chief Minister J B Patnaik. He demanded the chief minister, who held the agricultural portfolio, should immediately step down. Pressing for an ''impartial investigation,'' Naveen Patnaik alleged that officers of the level of chief secretary were being ''victimised'' for unearthing corrupt practices in the state. UNI
