Sasikala's nephew Mahadevan arrested in Rajasekaran assault caseS Mahadevan, one of those accused along with former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha and her associate Sasikala Natarajan in the alleged assault of auditor K Rajasekaran, was arrested by a special police team at Tiruppur, 40km from Coimbatore, today. The city police had registered cases against Jayalalitha, Sasikala, her nephew Mahadevan and two others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including section 307 (attempt to murder), for allegedly assaulting Rajasekaran at Jayalalitha's Poes Garden residence last Saturday. Jayalalitha condemned the arrest, alleging that the case was fabricated and Mahadevan's name had been included on the instruction of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. "To the best of my knowledge, Mahadevan was not in the city on the day of the alleged assault," she said in a statement. UNI |
