Chidambaram takes DMK to task

E-Mail this report to a friend

Former Union finance minister and Tamil Maanila Congress leader P Chidambaram has said the party was ready to forge a third front to establish 'Kamaraj rule' in Tamil Nadu in the year 2001.

Addressing a public meeting in Sivaganga yesterday, he reiterated his earlier charge that during the 32-year rule of the Dravidian parties democracy had been defaced.

He alleged that the Dravida Munnetra Kazagham government in the state had lost the goodwill and support of the people. The TMC is an ally of the DMK.

The people want a humanistic government, devoid of both the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham and the DMK.

Charging the state administration with not attending to the needs of the people, he warned that electorate would not return the DMK to power if the government functioned by solely depending on the bureaucracy.
