Koreans released after visas found valid in OrissaM I Khan in Bhubaneswar The 18 foreigners, who were detained by the police in Chandipur-on-sea in Balasore district, have been released, police department sources said. "They were released after their tourist visas were found valid,'' sources in the Balasore police department said. Balasore superintendent of police Dr R P Sharma told rediff.com that a special messenger was sent to Calcutta on Friday morning to ascertain their identities and to collect their original visas, which they had left with their travel agent there. The police had detained the 18, including 12 women, from a hotel at Chandipur-on-sea, near Balasore, on Thursday night on charges of not possessing legal documents. The foreigners, who claimed to be South Korean, had come from Calcutta as choir members of a Christian organisation. The sources said that the police had earlier ordered them not to move out of their hotel. Chandipur-on-sea in Orissa attracts foreign and domestic tourists throughout year.
