The demolition of a 16th century mosque near Asind town in Bhilwara district by hoodlums on Friday last has led to communal tension in the area.
The Chairman of the Rajasthan Waqf Board, Nasir Ali Naqvi, on Tuesday held the administration responsible for the incident.
Naqvi, who met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday to apprise him of the situation, demanded restoration of the mosque, built by a battalion of the Mughal army.
The Muslim community, comprising about one-tenth of the Asind population, was cooperating with the district administration in maintaining communal harmony, he said.
Naqvi claimed that the Gujjar community had installed an idol of Hanuman after the demolition of the mosque.
