BJD to file criminal case against Dilip Ray

Giridhar Gopal in Bhubaneswar

The Biju Janata Dal would file a criminal case against former Union minister and sitting Rajya Sabha member Dilip Ray for using the BJD's symbol on his vehicle, party spokesman Dr Damodar Rout said on Thursday.

"Party chief and Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expelled Ray for six years. Therefore, Ray has no legal right to use the party symbol or name. It is illegal. In spite of that he has been using that. The BJD will file a criminal case against him," he said.

Interestingly, Ray after his return from New Delhi on Tuesday, used a vehicle, which had a big cut out of the BJD symbol in front of it. His supporters who took out a rally to welcome him used the party's banner.
