Indicating an end to a tense standoff in the Middle East, Israel on Tuesday said Yasser Arafat was free to go where he wants.
Details of how Israeli forces would withdraw from Arafat's headquarters in Ramallah are still being worked out. Israeli tanks and armoured personnel carriers remained parked inside the compound.
Israel and the Palestinians agreed on Sunday to a US proposal that restores Arafat's freedom of movement, and in exchange, seeks to imprison six men wanted by Israel in a Palestinian jail.
Under the plan, the six would be transferred to the West Bank town of Jericho, said Palestinian Information Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo.
