Noted economist V R Panchamukhi has been nominated as chairman of the Indian Council of Social Science Research.
Panchamukhi, at present director general of the Research and Information System for Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries, has had a distinguished academic record and more than two decades of experience in teaching, an ICSSR release said in New Delhi on Friday.
Panchamukhi who holds a doctorate in economics from Delhi University, has the distinction of developing the Research and Information System for the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries, an autonomous body established by the Ministry of External Affairs in 1984, into an important think tank.
He was the leader of the Indian delegation for various South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation meetings held in India and abroad, the release said.
