Prateep Kumar Mohanty, member of the advisory board of the Planning Commission, will be sworn in as the new chief secretary of Orissa on October 31.
An official notification released in Bhubaneswar on Friday said Mohanty will replace D P Bagchi, who will retire on that day.
Mohanty, a 1967 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, has been appointed as chief secretary and chief development commissioner.
