Communal tension gripped the Patapol area of Cuttack, Orissa since Sunday night after members of two communities pelted stones at each other.
Tensions arose when a puja procession of one community came across a wedding procession of the other, inspector in-charge of cantonment police station, Brahmananda Dandpat, said on Monday.
At least 20 people have sustained injuries, police sources said.
Dandpat said the situation is under control.
