Poonch encounter site: Army

A huge quantity of arms and explosives were recovered from the encounter site in Kaka Hill area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir where fourteen militants and an army jawan were killed and one ultra apprehended on Tuesday, a defence spokesman of the Northern Command said on Wednesday.

The recoveries included three guns, two rifles, one sniper rifle with its sight, one under barrel grenade launcher, a 61-mm mortar, three pistols, one twelve-bore gun, Lt Col S P K Singh told reporters in Jammu.

Besides, troops also recovered seventeen grenades, one claymore mine, 20kg of explosives, 90 electric detonators, one fuse packet, two radio sets, two cell phones, one satellite phone, one dicta phone and two maps of Rajouri and Poonch districts.

Searches around the encounter site led to the recovery of 400kg of rations in bags, 20kg of dry fruits and 20kg of pickle, he said.

However, the identity of the slain militants and the outfits they belonged to were yet to be ascertained, the spokesman said.
