The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, invites applications for admission in the second semester starting January 2004 in the following programmes: 

Integrated First Degree Programmes (Code: FD) in Group A, B and C leading to BE (Hons); B Pharm (Hons); MMS; MSc (Hons) and MSc (Tech) degrees. 

Eligibility: Admission is open to students who have passed 10+2 from Central/State Board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.

Duration: Normally four years.

Admissions are based on the normalised aggregate percentage of marks. There is no separate entrance examination.

Higher Degree Programmes (Code: HD) ME in Chemical, Civil (with specialization in Infrastructure Systems); Communication Engineering; Computer Science; Mechanical; Software Systems; M Pharm.

Duration: Normally four semesters.

Eligibility:

Chemical/Civil/Computer Science/Mechanical: Integrated first degree of BITS in the same discipline or its equivalent.

Communication Engineering: Integrated first degree of BITS in Electrical & Electronics/ Electronics & Instrumentation or its equivalent.

Software Systems: Any Integrated first degree of BITS or its equivalent with specific prior preparation.

M Pharm: Integrated first degree of BITS in Pharmacy or its equivalent.

For Higher Degree programmes, short-listed candidates will be asked to come to Pilani for tests and interview at their own cost.

Doctoral Programmes leading to Ph D (Code: PH)

Applications are invited for Ph D programmes in all areas of Engineering and Science disciplines.

Eligibility: Any higher degree of BITS or its equivalent. Any applicant with qualification equivalent to Integrated first degree of BITS will be first examined for suitability to one of the higher degree programmes of the Institute.

Short-listed candidates will be called for a written test/interview for selections. Selected candidates will be given financial assistance in the form of either a fellowship of any government agency or of the Institute, project or teaching assistantship, full/partial tuition waiver or a combination of these.

Employed professionals having long experience and proven competence aspiring for

Ph D programme will be considered under the 'Ph D Aspirants' scheme and will be allowed to pursue their research at their own locations of work.

Application Procedure:

Application form and bulletin can be obtained from the Admissions Officer, Birla Institute Of Technology & Science, Pilani, Rajasthan 333031 by sending a request on plain paper giving the name and code of the programme for which the application is requested, candidate's name, complete postal address with pin code, the required despatch mode and demand draft details.

The request must be accompanied by a demand draft drawn in favour of Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani payable at State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, Pilani (Code: 1398) or UCO Bank, Vidya Vihar, Pilani (Code: 0150) for Rs 500 (registered parcel post) or Rs 600 (registered letter/speed post) or US$ 25 or its equivalent (for sending to foreign countries by Airmail).

Last date for submission of the completed application form: November 29, 2003.

PG Programmes in business management 2004

Goa Institute of Management invites applications to its two-year full time Post Graduate Programme in Business Management 2004.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) recognised by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates who complete graduation by June 25, 2004 may also apply. Only those candidates who register for the XAT can apply.

Admission Procedure:

XAT-2004: Applicants will have to appear for XAT-2004, the XLRI admission test conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur.

Log on to http://www.xlri.edu/xat for filling the XAT Online Form.

GIM Application: To also apply online for the GIM programme log on to www.gim.ac.in

On successfully filling the application, download and print the form, affix your photograph and send it to The Admissions Office, Goa Institute of Management, Ribandar, Goa 403006.

The form must be accompanied by a copy of the XAT photo/signature form-cum-payment advice, two self-addressed adhesive stickers of 9cm x 5cm and a demand draft for Rs 850 in favour of GIM Admission 2004 payable at Panaji or photocopy of Corporation Bank pay-in slip. The pay in slip can be obtained by paying Rs 850 at any branch of Corporation Bank, in favour of GIM Admission 2004.

Candidates will be short-listed on the basis of their XAT scores and called for group discussion and interviews for final selection in the last week of February 2004.

November 30, 2003: Last date for XAT online registration.

December 20, 2003: Last date for GIM online application.
