"The state cabinet, which met today, kept in abeyance the implementation of the order issued under the Essential Commodities Act by the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department in April," Chief Secretary S S Bloeria said in Srinagar.

The government would seek wider public opinion to make the order more purposeful, people-friendly and effective in curbing the extravagance and ostentatiousness at  marriages with the support and cooperation of the people at large.

The state cabinet has constituted a five-member sub-committee to examine the entire gamut of the Guest Control Order and make recommendations after considering the matter afresh.
