Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi did not do 'anything tangible' for tsunami victims in Devanampattinam in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa told the state assembly on Monday.

She was responding to points raised by Pattali Makkal Katchi leader G K Mani.

The CM said, "He (Vivek) has done little but derived a lot of publicity. He has just done 10 percent of the relief work while the government did the rest."

Jayalalithaa alleged that Oberoi did all the work using the money from the donors and didn't spend any from his own pocket.

She added that Oberoi had shifted his operations to Pondicherry only after his donors had backtracked from their commitment.

The Tamil Nadu government was not responsible for his decision, she said while denying Mani's charge that he had gone to Pondicherry only because the government did not allot land to construct permanent houses for the tsunami-affected.

Earlier, Finance Minister C Ponnaiyan said the temporary shelters set up by Oberoi's Project Hope was on the land provided by the government.
