An Indo-Tibetan Border Police team on Friday recovered the bodies of five Border Road Organisation personnel, who went missing near Jawahar Tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

"One BRO personnel from the team is still missing," the sources added.

The BRO men were reported missing when a massive snow avalanche struck Qazigund and Jawahar Tunnel on February 20 and 21.

Meanwhile, 1,275 people, who were stranded on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, crossed the Pir Panjal range on foot and reached Qazigund on Thursday, the sources said.

A few hours after the passengers crossed the avalanche-prone area, fresh avalanches blocked the road near the tunnel, sources said.

They said the BRO would trigger 'artificial avalanches' to clear the highway.
