More than 60 years after passing out from the Aligarh Muslim University, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's mother Zarin on Friday renewed ties with her alma mater.

Accompanied by Musharraf's brother Javed and son Bilal, the wheelchair-bound Zarin was received by AMU vice-chancellor Naseem Ahmed.

Zarin had studied at the university in the early 1940s.

The octogenarian Begum interacted with the university officials and students. The dignitaries also visited the Jama Masjid inside the AMU premises and placed a wreath at the mazar of university founder Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and offered special prayers.

Ahmed later hosted a lunch for the guests.

They also visited the hostel where Zarin's husband Mushrafuddin, who was also an alumnus of the institution, used to stay during his college days.
