Notwithstanding the tough stand of all parties in Uttar Pradesh Assembly against the indefinite closure of Lucknow University, Vice Chancellor R P Singh on Monday stuck to his decision.

He reiterated that he will not reopen the varsity until 'criminal elements were flushed out'.

"Common students are going to benefit from this," he told reporters, adding that he would stick to his stand on sine die closure of the varsity until anti-social elements were flushed out of the campus.

On senior students and research scholars taking classes for their juniors on the campus, Singh said it was 'propaganda of student leaders'.

He said he was determined to improve the academic atmosphere of the university.

"There are 150-200 courses being run in the University and around 700 classes are taken per day. The move of students is a mere propaganda of student leaders," Singh said.
