The Karnataka Cabinet Friday decided to convene the joint session of the state legislature on February 24. Governor T N Chaturvedi would address the session outlining the policies and programmes of the new Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party government that assumed office recently.

The cabinet, which met after the expansion of the ministry, had informal discussions on various issues and decided to summon the joint legislature session from February 24, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy told reporters.

The Governor would be delivering his address to the session for the second time this year, which has not happened before, following change of guard in the wake of the collapse of the Congress-JDS coalition ministry led by Dharam Singh.

Singh submitted his government's resignation on January 28, paving the way for installation of the new JDS-BJP ministry on February three.
