A Special Court in New Delhi on Monday sent Sahil Zaroo, co-accused in the high-profile Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case, to 10 days in judicial custody.

Special Judge N K Gupta remanded Sahil to judicial custody after he was produced before him on completion of his eight-day police remand.

Meanwhile, Maharasthra police filed an application before the Special Judge for transfer of custody of Sahil in connection with a Shahtoosh shawl smuggling case registered in Mumbai.

A team of Maharasthra police officials produced before Gupta a transfer warrant issued by a Metropolitan Magistrate in Mumbai ordering the transfer of custody of Sahil from the Tughlaq Road police to their counterparts at Marine Drive.

The Special Judge, however, declined to take any action on the application, saying he does not have any powers at present and directed Maharashtra police to approach the Delhi District Judge, who shall, if found necessary, mark the plea to him.

The case in which the FIR was filed in the Marine Drive police station on March 13 this year is with regard to Sahil allegedly escaping with one or two pieces of Shahtoosh shawls which were being illegally sold in his shop located inside a five star hotel there during a police raid on the premises.
