Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday filed chargesheet in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Srinagar against nine accused, including Border Security Force Deputy Inspector General S K Padhi, in the sex scandal case.

Besides Padhi, the chargesheet was filed against former state additional advocate general Anil Sethi, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Sabeena, the alleged kingpin of the racket, Shabir Langoo, Shabir Kala, Mehrajuddin Malik and Masood Ahmed.

The accused were charged under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC used in Jammu and Kashmir only), including 376 for rape of the 15-year-old victim.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar M Y Akhoon listed the case for hearing on July 7.

The CBI remand of Sethi was to expire on Sunday. He was sent to judicial custody till July 7 by the CJM in view of the chargesheet filed against him by the investigating agency. The court had sent Sethi to four days CBI remand on June 22 when he was presented before it immediately upon his arrival from Jammu.

Sethi, who is the son of retired Supreme Court judge R P Sethi, had surrendered before a court in Jammu on June 21. The CJM had issued a non-bailable warrant against him on June 5 as he had failed to appear before the CBI after the teenaged victim named him as one of the men who had allegedly raped her.

He was also declared a proclaimed offender by the court on June 16 with CBI declaring a reward of Rs two lakh for information leading to his arrest.

Two former ministers -- Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Raman Mattoo, also arrested in connection with the sex racket –- are expected to be sent to judicial custody later in the day as their CBI remand expires on Saturday.
