Blast on Delhi-Howrah rail line

A major rail accident was averted when a bomb exploded on the Delhi-Howrah railway line just five minutes after a Rajdhani Express passed the spot, officials said Monday.

The explosion occurred near Khurja Junction railway station, 40-km from Ghaziabad, Sunday.

A railway employee Sardar Singh was seriously injured in the explosion and the police have recovered two detonators from the spot, they said. Though no damage was done to the track, railway officials did not rule out the possibilty of sabotage.
