The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday slammed the State Election Commission over alleged rigging during the local bodies elections and accused the poll panel chief S P Singh of working 'as an agent of ruling Samajwadi Party'.

"Such large-scale rigging and violence had never been witnessed in the electoral history of the state," BJP spokesman H N Dixit alleged.

Dixit, speaking to reporters, charged the state election commissioner S P Singh with 'denigrating' the office.

He also demanded immediate dismissal of the state government and holding of fresh elections for the local bodies under President's rule.
