The Allahabad High Court on Friday admitted an appeal filed by Imrana's father-in-law Ali Mohammad challenging a sessions court order sentencing him to 10 years in jail for raping his daughter-in-law.

Justice M K Mittal of the court fixed December 1 for hearing the bail application of Mohammad and summoned the records of the trial within two weeks by a special messenger.

In the appeal, it has been alleged that 65-year-old Mohammad was falsely implicated in the case by Imrana and her husband Noor Ilahi, as they had been insisting on partition of the property which he did not accept.

As per the prosecution case, Mohammad had raped Imrana in their house in the absence of her husband, following which an FIR was lodged on June 13, 2005, at Charathwal police station in Muzaffarnagar district.

Muzaffarnagar District and Sessions Judge R D Nimesh on October 19 convicted Mohammad of the rape, awarding him 10 years' rigorous imprisonment and slapping a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
