A division bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court has granted conditional interim stay on order passed by a family court in the city, which granted maintenance to Princess Manolya, ex-wife of Prince Mukarram Jah, former eighth Nizam of Hyderabad, and her daughter Niloufer.

Dealing with a petition filed by Prince Mukarram Jah challenging the order of the family court, which granted maintenance of $15,000 per month to the daughter and a permanent alimony to Manolya, the bench, comprising Justice T Meena Kumari and Justice P Lakshman Reddy, on Wednesday, directed the Prince to deposit Rs 2 crore and to pay $10,000 per month to his daughter living in Turkey.

It may be recalled that earlier in June this year, the family court had directed the Prince not only to pay $15,000 a month to his daughter but also give lumpsum amount towards final settlement to Manolya, who was divorced by him 13 years ago.

The Prince contended that this lumpsum amount aggregated to Rs 13 crore, whereas Manolya claimed that it will be Rs 16 crore. While granting interim stay of further proceedings, the bench posted the case for further hearing after the Dussehra vacation.
