TN: Prime accused in blast case surrenders

Sekar, prime accused in the jeep blast, in which 16 persons were killed at Sendur village in Villupuram district, surrendered before a judicial magistrate at Vellore on Monday, police said.

Sekar was the owner of the godown from where the explosives were transported.

He was remanded to 15 days judicial custody, police said.

Sekar, a native of Puducherry, was running a godown dealing with explosives at Pathuripulliyur in Villupuram and used to supply explosives for blasting rocks in the district.

Two persons Nagappan and Annamalai, working under Sekar, were arrested on Sunday.

Sixteen persons were killed and 20 injured when a jeep loaded with 'slurry explosives' and detonators exploded near Tindivinam on Saturday.
