Senior People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig has been appointed deputy chief minister of  Jammu and Kashmir.

Governor S K Sinha will administer him the oath of office and secrecy at the Raj Bhavan in the winter capital, Jammu, on Monday morning.

Baigh, who is one of the senior-most leaders of the ruling alliance partner, had to resign last year as deputy chief minister, when he was recalled by the People's Democratic Party high command from the state cabinet.

Decks for Baig's re-induction into the state cabinet were cleared Saturday, when Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad met the PDP patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the duo had a one-hour-long meeting to sort issues that had cropped up between the two alliance partners.

Sources also said that Baigh would be given the planning and tourism portfolio while the state cabinet reshuffles is on the cards later this month.
