Members of Karnataka's first family, apart from being hardcore politicians, also share a strong belief in astrology. Every decision by former prime minister Deve Gowda and his family is taken only after due consultations with an astrologer.

Not surprisingly, Gowda has moved to his son-in-law's residence in Bangalore after consulting with an astrologer. In Karnataka political circles, this is a sure sign of imminent elections.

Every time elections are round the corner, Gowda moves to this house as he considers it lucky.

The majority of the Gowda clan lives in Amogha, his son-in-law's house, in Padmanabhanagar area in Bangalore.

While some say that it is Gowda's lucky house, others point out that it will be easier to draw up an election plan as most of his family members live in the same house.

Gowda shifted to Amogha, along with his office staff and important files, after consultations with Vaastu experts and astrologers.

Soon after Gowda moved into this house for the first time in 1994, he became the state president of the Janata Dal. He went on to become the Chief Minister of Karnataka in the same year.

He shifted to Amogha again in 1995, the year he became the prime minister of India. After losing his position, he returned to his own house, but the JD-S fared badly in the ensuing elections.

Days before the last Assembly elections in the state, Gowda returned to Amogha and his party, which had been written off by many, managed to bag 58 seats.
