Eleven persons were arrested on Friday in connection with the torching of a Tamil Nadu transport corporation bus in which two passengers were charred to death in Bommanahally near Bangalore on Tuesday, police said.

"Eleven persons have been arrested. We are looking for some more," Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Bipin Gopalakrishna told media persons in Bangalore.

The Chennai-bound bus was set on fire on Hosur Road in protest against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's remarks on Lord Ram in the context of the  Sethusamudram project.

Another group attacked the house of Karunanidhi's daughter Selvi on the same day.

Gopalakrishna said cases had been registered against the 11 for various offences, including unlawful assembly, arson, causing damage to public property and culpable homicide.

The arrested had been identified as Harish Babu (29), Basavaraj (28), Narasimha (27), Seena (28), Vijaykumar (28), Manjunath (26), Manju (27), Sagai Raju (25), Papanna (29), Anil Kumar (27) and Rajesh (31).

However, the police were yet to ascertain whether the arrested belonged to any particular organisation and also the motive behind the attack, he said.
