K'taka cops grill terror mastermind's 'friend'

Abdul Subhan is among India's most wanted men following the serial blasts in New Delhi. The techie, who is considered to be instrumental in setting up the tech wing of the Students Islamic Movement of India, is on the run and security agencies have launched a nation wide man hunt for the man.

Where is Subhan and who could provide vital clues regarding this man? While this being the case, Karnataka police has stumbled upon a young architect, who they claim is a close friend of Subhan and was seen with him just before the Bangalore blasts.

Abdul Sami, aged 23 and a resident of Bijapur in Karnataka, was picked up by the police for questioning. According to sources, in the police department in Karnataka, Sami could provide vital clues regarding Subhan.

The interrogation on Sami, a SIMI activist, has already commenced and the police are questioning him regarding the whereabouts of Subhan.

Sami was picked up by the Karnataka police based on the information given by the Intelligence Bureau. The IB had tipped off the police regarding Sami and had also informed that Sami was seen along with Subhan just before the Bangalore blasts.

Why SIMI recruited techies

It is also said that Sami had sheltered Subhan just before the Bangalore blasts. Following this the IB had kept Sami under surveillance.

According to IB sources, Subhan is most-likely hiding in south India. The IB says Subhan could most likely be hiding either in Gulbarga or Hubli-Dharwad. They say that Subhan, who had conducted training camps in these areas, had taken a liking for these places.

Over the past one year, Subhan had mastered the terrain in these areas and had also recruited a large number of youth to undertake subversive activities.

Investigating agencies say Sami could provide vital clues about Subhan and his whereabouts. Meanwhile the Interpol too has been alerted regarding Subhan. The IB says that he will be looking to slip out of the country and hence the Interpol had been alerted.
