Britain on Wednesday asked Pakistan to move "further and faster" in prosecuting those suspected to be involved in the Mumbai terror attacks.

British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband said "the absolute priority is for the Pakistani government to go further and faster in turning the detention of those who they believe were associated with the Mumbai bombings into prosecutions, and then if they're found guilty, punishment."

Noting that Islamabad had taken positive steps on the probe since he visited India and Pakistan last month, Miliband
said those steps must be translated into prosecutions.

"This is the absolute fundamental building block of any sort of rebuilding of trust," the Foreign Secretary said while addressing a think tank in London.

He said during his discussions with Pakistani military and civilian leaders he was struck by how unanimous their views were on the threats posed by terrorism to Pakistan.

"That now needs to be turned into action. That is the absolute next step, and the sooner that happens, the better."

Pakistan has detained 120 people following United Nations resolution declaring Jamaat-ud-Dawah a front for the
Lashkar-e-Taiba, which has been blamed by India for the Mumbai terror attacks.
