One more arrested in Noida gang rape case

The police have arrested one more person in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 24-year-old MBA student in Noida, while five other accused were remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

22-year-old Little, son of Jaibir, was picked up from Garhi Choukandi village on Wednesday afternoon, the police said, adding that four other accused were absconding.

The police have till now arrested six persons in connection with the shocking incident that occurred when the victim was returning home with her friend in their car after shopping at a mall in Sector 39 in Noida.

A manhunt has been launched for the other accused Tuiya, Omkar, Shashi Kant Golu and Anil, police said.

MBA student raped near Noida mall

The five accused arrested on Tuesday were produced before the magistrate, who sent them to judicial custody till January 20.

A hearing on application for police custody was fixed for January 9.

In an FIR lodged with the Noida Police, the friend of the second-year MBA student, residing in south Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, claimed that the motorcycle-borne youths waylaid them near a drainage.

"The victim's friend said that when they had traveled about 900 metres from the mall, some motorcyclists overtook them and waylaid them. They forcibly entered the car and one of them started driving," Tripati said, adding that the youngsters were carrying cricket bats and wickets.

After driving for some time, the official said, the youngsters reached an isolated place, where they allegedly raped the girl.
