Phoolan threatens to burn herself on Kanshi's door-step
Bandit-turned-MP Phoolan Devi on Monday threatened
to commit self-immolation if she was 'denied justice' by the Uttar Pradesh government.
Speaking during Zero Hour in Parliament, an emotional Phoolan Devi said when she surrendered in 1983, she had been promised that all cases against her would be heard in one place. Later
in 1994, the UP government said all the cases would be withdrawn. However, she said the Bahujan
Samaj Party-Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state was reviving her cases.
"I have not been able to fulfill my promises to my constituents," she said, "Who will give me justice?"
If her plea was not heard, the Samajwadi party MP went on, she would burn herself on BSP chief Kanshi Ram's door-step.
